A patient-centered guide to Lyme disease, built on two simple ideas: you deserve clear facts, and you deserve to be heard.

Why Beat Lyme exists

Lyme disease is common, often missed, and surrounded by conflicting information. People search late at night with a rash, a tick in a jar or months of unexplained symptoms, and find pages that are either too technical to follow or too certain to trust.

Beat Lyme is our attempt at something better: plain-language guides that put what the official guidelines say next to what people living with Lyme tell us, clearly labelled, so you can understand your situation and take better questions to your doctor.

What we are, and what we are not

  • We are an independent information site run by Beat Lyme LLC, a small company based in Sheridan, Wyoming.
  • We are not doctors, a clinic or a medical provider. We don’t diagnose, treat or recommend treatment for anyone.
  • We are not affiliated with the CDC, any government agency, any medical society or any patient advocacy group. We link to their work because it is useful.

How we create content

Every medical fact on Beat Lyme is checked against primary sources such as the CDC and the National Institutes of Health, and each page lists its sources. Where doctors and patients disagree, as they often do about long-lasting symptoms, we explain the main positions fairly rather than picking a side. Our content is not currently reviewed by a licensed clinician, and we say so plainly. Read our full editorial policy.

How we pay for the site

Beat Lyme does not currently earn money from its content. In the future we may offer clearly labelled featured listings to clinics in our care finder, and we may use affiliate links for books or products such as tick removal tools. If we do, we will label them clearly, and no payment will ever change what we say about symptoms, testing or treatment. We do not sell supplements or promote products claiming to treat Lyme disease.
